Scope Notes: This collection consists of 41 photographs, primarily portraits, taken in Leipzig, Germany in the Nineteenth Century. 2 photographs from 1962 illustrate Miss Alma Gaessner displaying a lace collar (Putnam Museum catalogue # MT 1858).

Genesis Systems Group Collection 1999-73

Date: c. 1997-1999

Scope Notes: This collection consists of 15 color prints documenting the automated manufacturing systems produced by Genesis Systems Group of Davenport. Some images show the systems in use in factories; others are “product shots” showing only the equipment. 

These images were solicited for the exhibit “100 Years of Real Stuff.” A separate donation includes a plastic model of one of the company’s products.

Graffiti Collection 1992-73

Inclusive dates: May 1992

Scope Notes: This collection is comprised of 14 images (7 color negatives with prints, 2 color transparencies, and 5 black and white negatives with contact prints) of gang graffiti spray-painted on the east side of the Midcoast Salon building on West Locust Street, Davenport. The graffiti is apparently from a rival gang of the Black Gangster Disciples (since the term “No Folks” appears and the gang’s symbols are painted upside down; see notes).

Scope Notes: This collection consists of 46 photo positive images, primarily unidentified portraits, housed in 2 yellow celluloid photo albums. The exceptions are: 1 identified portrait of Wesley Seymour Clewell, 7 group portraits of unidentified people and unidentified workers at a cemetery gate. These pieces of material culture were formerly assigned the object numbers: MU 3321 and MU 3322 and within the Graham Collection have been assigned the designations Album 1 and Album 2 respectively.

Scope Notes: This collection contains 14 images (9 copy negs, 5 prints from original negatives, plus 2 copy prints) reproduced from originals in donor’s possession. 12 of the images (#2-13) were contained in a photo album. All photos document rural life near Donahue, Iowa, during the 1920s and early 1930s. [See also accession 1992-96 for Adolph Gronewold’s Zanol products salesman’s kit used during the Great Depression.]
