A Legacy of Strength and Sport

Every third Thursday, we’ll be serving up fascinating talks on a variety of topics, all while you enjoy a cold brew or your favorite beverage.
In March, local author David Sebben joins us for History on Tap to share the remarkable story behind his book, Nothing Great Is Easily Won: The Solomon Butler Story. Solomon Butler was the greatest athlete you’ve never heard of and had to overcome numerous racial issues   Butler, a 1915 Rock Island High School graduate, was a world-class athlete in high school, at Dubuque German College, (now UDub), and internationally.  He also became the second black quarterback in the NFL and there isn’t much he didn’t do in his short lifetime.
