Join author, historian, and John Deere Heritage Marketing and Archives Manager Neil Dahlstrom for an engaging look at one of the most influential figures in regional history: Black Hawk. A nearly lifelong Quad Cities resident, Neil set out to uncover the truth behind the man whose name remains woven throughout our communities. Through years of research, he explored questions that continue to shape our understanding of the past: Who was Black Hawk? Was the Black Hawk War truly a war? And why has his legacy endured through place names, trails, organizations, and sports teams across the region?
Drawing on his research and personal journey, Neil will share the challenges, discoveries, and insights he encountered while searching for the real Black Hawk, offering a deeper understanding of the man behind the legend and his lasting impact on the Midwest.
