Reflections Through Time: Mirrors in the Putnam Museum Collection
Every third Thursday, join us for History on Tap, an evening of fascinating talks on a variety of topics, best enjoyed with a cold brew or your favorite beverage in hand.
On June 18, step “through the looking glass” for an engaging conversation exploring the intriguing, and sometimes “magical”, history of mirrors. Drawing from artifacts in the Putnam Museum collection, this program will take you on a journey through time, revealing what people used to see their reflections before the invention of silvered glass and how mirrors have reflected the cultures and resources of their eras.
We’ll also take a closer look at modern glass mirrors, including one remarkable piece that was hidden inside a Putnam Museum wall for more than 40 years.
