History on Tap: German Davenport in Stone and Story
German Davenport in Stone and Story
Every third Thursday, we’ll be serving up fascinating talks on a variety of topics, all while you enjoy a cold brew or your favorite beverage.
In February, Clare Tobin, the Assistant Director and Curator at the German American Heritage Center and Museum will be here to teach about where German immigrants worked, lived, and created a community. Through photos and records, learn the stories of German immigrants, their homes, and businesses which still stand in Davenport today. This presentation will explore sites including secret prohibition-era basements, sordid details of residents at the Germania Haus, Davenport’s only “castle,” and more. Grab a pint, settle in, and toast “Prost!” to those Germans who built the Quad Cities.
