Nelson Collection 2003-33

Scope Notes

This collection contains 7 copy negatives of Easter Hat Parade contests at Johnson Elementary School, Davenport, Iowa. Donor Doris Nelson’s daughters Terri and Vicki participated in the contest. Girls decorated hats and then they were judged. Mrs. Nelson said that in later years, parent assistance and competitive nature of the contest increased.

Mel Misfeldt was photographer for original photographs. 4 x 5 copy negatives made 2003 by Boyd-Fitzgerald. Donor retained original images. No copyright restrictions.

Scope Notes

The collection is comprised of 22 images (22 prints & 1 copy neg) related to employees and manufacturing at Nichols Wire & Aluminum Co., Davenport. 14 of the images were taken by Richard K. Sunderbruch. 4 of the images are group portraits of employees, the remainder are of barbed wire, chain link, nail, and other metal production machinery. One print is oversized.

Night People Collection 1992-1

Scope Notes

This collection contains 20 images of the Night People (a Quad City rock band from the 1960s) at a reunion concert held at the Col Ballroom, Davenport. Band members include Rob Dahms, Mike Stroehle, Rick Collignon, Kenny White, and Gary Pearsons. The photographs were taken by Mike Schwenker of the Putnam Museum in conjunction with a music exhibit funded by a Historic Resource Development Program grant (see also HRDP Music Collection, 1991-228).

This collection contains 293 photographs in one leather-bound photograph album (#1) and one scrapbook (#2). Tintypes, cartes-de-visite, and cabinet cards are represented in the portraits found in album 1. The amateur photography found in Album 2 includes cyanotypes as well as albumen paper prints.
