Albert McCollough – Buddy L Collection 2000-35
Inclusive Dates: 1909-1990
Scope Notes
This collection contains photos as well as various documents (mostly advertisements) relating to the the history of the Moline Pressed Steel Company, Buddy L Manufacturing Company (name change in 1930) and these toys made in East Moline. The donor collected the materials during his many years of researching Buddy “L” toys. He wrote the catalog of Buddy “L” toys and many of these images appear in his books.
Most photos contain additional info regarding the photo and its use by Moline Pressed Steel Co. Mr. McCollough wrote the info, which were probably photos captions for his books. The numbering and chronological order of this collection was established by the donor. The photographs are stored first and then the documents. Folder 1 also contains Mr. McCoullough’s correspondence including the collection list and the cassette tapes (2000.35.163a-b).

This collection contains 27 images taken by William Meyer c. 1909-1910. All of the images were originally in an album which remains in the possession of the donor. The collection in the Museum is comprised of copy negs and a few copy prints made from the originals by photographer Bill Bieg in December 1993.
Mr. Meyer was a farmer who owned land in the Northwest quadrant of Section 12 of Blue Grass Twp., Scott Co., Iowa. All of the photos were taken on or near this farm. The property had been in his family’s possession since c. 1855-1856. William Meyer, his wife Sophia, and their three sons, Wilbert, Edwin, and Harold are the subjects of most of the photos. The camera used by William Meyer to take these images is also in the Museum’s collection (accession 1993-79).

Meyer Architectural Slides Collection 1998-25
Inclusive Dates: 1979, 1982-1988, 1994
Scope Notes
This collection consists of 116 color slides of Quad Cities houses and architectural details taken by donor Gladys Meyer. Ms. Meyer was an accomplished amateur photographer and member of several camera clubs. She apparently used the slides for slide programs.
The date noted is the date on the slide i.e. when it was developed. It is assumed that the images were taken shortly before they were developed. Two slides on the original list could not be located when the inventory was completed. Two slides not on the list were with the collection, which were used as substitutes for the missing two.

Inclusive dates: 1848-1956
Scope Notes
This collection is comprised of 80 images from two accessions (1993-18 and 1993-19). Some of the images were reproduced from the originals which remain in the donor’s possession. Included in the collection are many images of the Mueller Lumber Company, its employees, and Mueller family members. [The notes in folder 1 contain a fairly extensive history of the company and family.] Also included are several original photographs from local housing development groups such as Davenport Garden Homes, Inc. and Davenport Homes, Inc., some of which have been
removed from one album (1993.18.2) and some of which remain in another album (1993.18.3).
Also included with the collection are seven ledger books from the Mueller Lumber Company (6 account books: Mar. 24, 1870-Dec.20, 1870; Dec. 21, 1870-Nov. 14, 1871; Nov. 15, 1871-Mar. 10, 1873; Dec. 10, 1883-Nov. 14, 1884; June 1, 1985-May 7, 1896; May 8, 1902-Oct. 29, 1902; and one ledger book listing properties owned by Mueller Lumber Co. in 1902). Albums 1993.18.2,3
Photograph album 1993.18.2 originally held 27 prints. These prints have been removed from the acidic environment of the album and stored in acid free paper sleeves in folder 2 of this collection. The original photographs were replaced with numbered notes in the original album so that it can easily be reconstructed if desired.
Photograph album 1993.18.3 is divided into four main sections: “Davenport Garden Homes Inc.” (a-d), “Davenport Homes Inc.” (e-h), “Fort Madison Homes Inc.” (j-q), and “Rock-River Homes Inc., Rockford, Ill. Completed 7-1-1942” (r-x). All but one of these photographs (1993.18.3a, stored in folder 4 of this collection) are stapled onto album pages. Some pages are now empty, but apparently once had photos attached to them.
