A History of Arsenal Island

Every third Thursday, we’ll be serving up fascinating talks on a variety of topics, all while you enjoy a cold brew or your favorite beverage.

On Thursday, July 18th, our featured speaker will be Patrick Allie, the Director of the Rock Island Arsenal Museum. He will share the fascinating and often overlooked history of Rock Island, later known as Arsenal Island, from its initial mapping by the U.S. Army in 1805 to the current operations of Rock Island Arsenal. Since it began producing equipment for the Army, Rock Island Arsenal has played a significant role in National Defense and continues that legacy today as it supports the Warfighter on a global scale.

Whether you’re interested in the history of local areas, the importance of Arsenal Island, or are simply curious about why it’s no longer called “Rock Island,” this is a session you do not want to miss. Join us as we delve into the history of National Defense and arms production with Patrick Allie!
