Special Exhibits!

Davenport's Civil Rights Movement: 1945-1977
Through March 28
This image-rich exhibit explores the people and organizations that worked to
end segregation in the Quad Cities, particularly Davenport. It traces the efforts
of individuals such as Charles Toney, Bill Cribbs, and others who were leaders in local civil rights organizations. Discover the unique role that local Catholics
through St. Ambrose and the Catholic Interracial Council played in working for
social equality for all.

Ocean Voyagers: People of the Pacific Islands
February 27-May 23
Explore a bit of paradise! This interactive exhibit explores the cultures of the
Pacific Island people who live a life closely connected to the sea. Discover
how the islands were populated. A voyaging game reinforces choices necessary
for survival. See how costume and dance express cultural identity. The exhibit
also addresses how 20th Century issues, such as global warfare and rising
ocean levels, affect these island peoples.

Images of the Floating World
Through June 14
This exhibit features brilliantly colored Japanese woodblock prints from the
Edo period (1603-1868). They show scenes from Kabuki theater productions,
folk tales, history, and daily life. Artifacts representing the themes of the prints bring the scenes to life. Stand face to face with a Samurai soldier, and enjoy
the beauty of a Japanese wedding kimono.
