    Wild Africa takes audiences on a spectacular journey across, over, and through the magical realms of the wildest continent on earth.  Water, the interconnecting force of this enchanted kingdom, serves as a guide, shaping wild Africa and conjuring up life wherever it journeys… travelling above the plains on seasonal winds, cascading along raging rivers or sheltering coral cities.  Audiences will be plunged into fantastic places and meet amazing creatures, discovering the fascinating secrets of this incredible world.  It’s an adventure where you will truly believe the real world is more extraordinary and awe-inspiring than any fiction.
    Fly from the highest snow covered mountains in Kenya, along great rivers, into steamy rainforests and wide-open savannahs while discovering the striking contrast of stunning deserts beside wild oceans and diving into the sunlit abundance of the coral reefs. In a final epic giant screen experience the movie chases the great rains of the African summer storms that annually bring life to this magnificent continent.

  • Sensory-Friendly Films

    The Putnam GIANT Screen Theater will premiere the next sensory-friendly film experience on Sunday, March 10 at 2:00 p.m. with the film "Journey to Space."

    What is sensory-friendly?  It’s a movie modified to be “friendlier” to the senses that affect those with disabilities. Changes to the environment and film experience include: dimmed but not turned off theater lights, lower volume, all movies in 2D, little to no trailers before the movie and handicapped access to theater.

    Guests of all ages have the freedom to move around and make noise during the show, as well as bring in outside food and drink to suit their dietary needs! A designated “chill out zone” is available outside of the theater to provide comfort for those attending.

    This ticket gives patrons access to the film in the theater as well as “chill out zones” if any patron feels the need to leave the theater and calm down in a quiet area. 
    Sensory-friendly films at the Putnam are proudly supported by the Autism Society of the Quad Cities. The Autism Society of America, the national chapter, aided in suggesting the guidelines set in place for the theater showings.
