Sign up your students today for an engaging, unforgettable learning experience that
happens right in the classroom. Museum educators bring artifacts, experiments and
enthusiasm (and the occasional hissing cockroach!) to your class for a lively presentation that is sure to spark the imagination and lead to deeper learning.
Putnam for Preschool
Preschool/daycare classrooms receive a weekly visit from a museum educator who uses experiments, activities and lots and lots of energy to get your learners excited about science! From blacklights to magnets, your students and teachers will look forward to these presentations each and every week. 6-week program (new theme each week) $250 plus travel fee of $.75/mile (minimum travel fee $5).

Elementary and Middle School Outreach
Outreach programs must be booked in advance. Half Day (up to three programs):
$135. Full Day (up to six programs): $185. A travel fee of $.75 per mile (minimum travel fee $5)applies to both half and full day programs. Limited subsidies are available. And the Beat Goes On, Kindergarten
Clap, sing and dance as students take a trip around the world with a museum educator who presents the diversity of our musical heritage using songs, dance and ethnic musical instruments.
Dinosaurs!, Grades 1-2
Walk like a dinosaur as your students join our Mesozoic tour guide in an exciting
dino-tivity. This program combines the most up-to-date facts with humorous paleontology discoveries that are sure to keep your students engaged and excited.
Coral Reefs and Beyond, Grades 1-3
Students will explore the adaptations and special relationships of the exotic creatures that inhabit the reef through a multi-media presentation, supplemented with hands-on models, experiments and live specimens.
Insects: What’s the Buzz?, Grades 1-3
Student entomologists will figure out what makes an insect an insect and how they have adapted to their habitats. A live insect steals the stage in this program.
Art: It’s a Natural, Grade 3
Discover four elements of art in images of our region’s natural scenery through this multimedia presentation. Finish this lesson with a project that is sure to get your students hopping!
Progress on the Prairie, Grades 3-5
Learn the story of corn from its tiny beginnings to today’s 1000-kernel ears. Students will handle amazing primitive tools and make connections between modern agriculture and its early roots.
Our Region and the Civil War, Grades 5-8
Authentic artifacts bring the Civil War to life for your class. Make connections to the Orphan Train, Underground Railroad and the War. You will be thinking like a Southerner, feeling like a soldier and yearning to know more by the time our costumed presenter leaves your classroom!
River Through Time, Grades 4-8
Fossil evidence of plants and animals that inhabited this area hundreds of millions of years ago will inspire students to explore the unique geologic history of the Mississippi River in our region.
Pyramids Along the Mississippi, Grades 4-8
Is the Mississippi River the Nile of the West? Travel through time from hunter-gatherers to the Mound Builders, discovering our region’s prehistoric secrets.
NEW Science Alive!, Grades 4-8
Put on your lab coats and break out the safety glasses! Join a Putnam educator in discovering scientific laws and properties through exciting hands-on experiments and demonstrations. Your students are sure to get a ‘bang’ out of this program! Subsidies are available for this outstanding program!
